How do you make fuzzy edges in Photoshop?

Select areas you wish to fuzzify and then either motion blur the selection or draw a gradient from background color of your choice to transparency.

simple, draw a rectangle w/ the marquee tool, use the one that has bevelled edges. then you just invert the selection (crtl+shift+i), then run a blur filter on it.

I found the marquee rectangular tool, but I don't see one with beveled edges. I see a style called "chiseled sky" but that just makes the selection sky blue
