Isn't there a way to make a small TV antenna with a close hanger or something? Anyone?

If your TV has a cable connector, you can just use some long pieces of speaker wire..

The longer the better.

Did this today at work. Extended our antenna with about 10ft of speaker wire so that we could get better CBC reception. Bring on the hockey!

For best reception you need to match the impedence of the antenna to the input of the TV tuner... which is 75 Ohms..

Just spend $5 and buy an antenna at wallmart

Well I would buy a 5 dollar antenna from walmart like someone suggested, but a coat hanger will work. A coat hanger can damage your Coax jack on the back of your TV so I would use a long piece of coax or some type of fairly thick wire.

The simplest thing to do is just stick a straightnened paper-clip in the F-connector of the TV, this wont damage anything if your careful, and will pick up a signal... I've used this trick ALOT.

If you need better reception you'll have to get a proper antenna.

EDIT: To answer your questions a clothes hanger will NOT work, as it will not fit properly into the F-Connector... a paperclip will :D

one thing I've found useful, is unscrewing the co-ax cable from my tv almost all the way, until only the long, thin inner wire is still touching...for some reason, this greatly improves reception for me (which is pretty good, considering I have no antenna, and live 3 miles away from Sears Tower).
