How do you like your steak?

Medium. One of my brothers likes it rare, the other likes it well done/boot leather, and my dad likes it medium well/well done. There's just not enough bloody juice left beyond medium!

A little past Medium

So pink center, but mostly gray?

Yeah, I usually order it Medium-Well though since I'd rather have it a bit more done than how I've gotten it sometimes ordering Medium. (No, I don't bother sending stuff back 😛 )

I need to cook a steak for you then. You tell me how you like it and that is what you are going to get.

But this I promise, I will put two cuts of the same steak in front of you. One will be a true medium (pink throughout) the other will be above medium (50/50 pink/gray). You get to pick which you like better but you don't get to see what you're eating.

After all that is said if you pick the medium-well I may hit you in the back of the head with socks that I've worn for a week straight and they are full of a combination of other socks and lead. It won't really hurt all that much, but will be a nice corrective action.

hmmm... I think I'm going to have to pass on that one.

I don't really eat steak that often and I was raised on boot-leather style, so I've made great strides already. I'm sure I'll be enlightened someday as to how I should be ordering my steaks.

Being raised on boot-leather, I went to one restaurant (when I was early middle-school aged) and got a very rare one and it kind of freaked me out with all the blood 😉

Exactly!

Steak tartare, no fucking question.

If I must cook the meat, then I usually just sear the outside of it. Gotta have that deep purple center to it for me to eat it.

You just need proper corrective action to erase the terrible childhood memory.

I suggest - steaktherapy.com.

From there you can begin the program to bring you back to reality and a love of a good steak.

😉

I once ate a steak that was so rare, during every bite I thought to myself "Man I shouldn't be eating this". Best steak ever.

I always order medium, for every cut. This is is a great way to order fillets, because in my experience, a fillet is rarely ever overcooked (according to your original order), but tends to be undercooked at most restaurants. So if you order medium, you'll be treated somewhere around medium and medium-rare, mostly like a medium-medium-rare. Makes the fillet especially tasty.

but yea, medium is a safe bet for me, because I'll readily accept a steak in the range of medium-rare to medium-well.. but I want it as close to medium as possible. if I order medium, please don't overcook! I prefer medium-rare over medium-well if its not going to be cooked proper.

No Well Done on the poll eh?
I like mine DONE! If it's cooked right, it comes out perfect. I usually order it butterflied/well done! (no pink)

If no one in here believes a steak can be well done and at the same time not being tough, are just misinformed and like raw meat.

Jesus! That's not a steak. That's beef.

Make a stew.

It says steak right on it 😉

I don't make steaks at home, I'm not much of a cook. I will occasionally order them when I go out to eat.

Rare at a nice steak house, medium rare elsewhere.

At home, depends on the cut but usually anywhere from rare-med rare

Cooking steak more than medium rare should be a crime, order a damn hamburger.
