How do you like your oatmeal prepared?

I add just enough water to make the flakes float

then I put it in the micro for 70 seconds.

After that, I stir it up some to mix the water in.

I add some really cold water to the mix, and mix it again

put in some brown sugar and cinnamon, stir, and eat.

Boil the water.
Add the oats (standard oats, unflavored).
Boil off the excess water.
Add milk and heat till hot but not boiling.
Pour oatmeal in bowl(s).
Add real maple syrup or honey.

boil water in microwave. i like my oatmeal to be a bit thick, so i add only a certain amount of water. i then add about a small amount of milk to it. i have to drink milk with it also or i won't eat it.

Steel cut oats in the rice cooker. I use about a 3.5:1 ratio of water to oats, set it on the porridge setting, & time it to be ready when I wake up. Maple syrup for a little flavor & I'm good to go.

For those who haven't tried it yet steel cut is WAY better than rolled. Rolled oats is flavorless mush in comparison.

oatmeal recipe fit for the gods among men:

one cup oatmeal
1/2 cup of orange juice
one cup milk
microwave on high for 4-5 minutes

optional: toss in some bacon if u've worked out the day before

i agree with the steel cut. i just had it the other day and it was so much better than regular instant quaker oats. too bad i just bought a huge box of the instant stuff at costco before i tried the steel cut, so now it'll take me a while to finish it.

I pour enough water to soak all the oats but not to make it watery. I like a little thickness to my oatmeal. Preferred flavor: maple brown sugar

Heat it in the microwave with water. Then add milk while stirring to get a thick non-watery consistancy.

I only eat the pre-flavored oat meal. Strawberry, blueberry...

That microwave crap is NOT oatmeal...that stuff is just plain nasty.

Old-Fashioned oats only in this house, Quaker at the minimum, but the preferred is Snoqualmie Falls brand. Takes a little longer, but it's worth it.

I want them served thick and cooked enough so that they're done with just a bit of chewy...

Then, tons of white sugar, MAYBE a touch of brown sugar, and lots of milk.

I only like McCann's Irish Steel-Cut Oatmeal, I can't stand the regular stuff - too mushy for me. I cook it up on the 'Porridge' setting on my rice cooker and then eat it with rice milk & light agave nectar. Pretty dang tasty! Plus you can put the leftovers in the fridge and eat it for up to a week, so you only have to cook it once a week - it actually holds up pretty well!

I use 3 scoops organic rolled oats (will have to try steel cut but I just add hot water at work to mix it up) with 1 scoop of ground flax seed, teaspoon of dried cranberries, a spoon of either diced almonds or granola, nutmeg, LOTS of cinnamon.
