They don't have a plan for people that don't yap endlessly on the phone. My wife and I combined could get by with a basic family plan of 100 minutes total per month and probably not put a dent in the minutes. That is really all I want from them, a basic cell phone plan for 2 phones that doesn't end up costing me $70.00 per month.

Verizon coverage is generally really great, but the pricing sucks and they gouge like ridiculous. It's next to impossible to load up your own ringtones on a phone.

I hate how they have the same menus on every phone.

Why take away advanced features from a phone just to dumb it down for the masses?

That aside, their coverage is second to none in my experience.

I've had, AT&T(Cingular), Tmobile, Sprint, Nextel and now Verizon and Verizon has the best reception of them all from my experience.

My work recently switched to Sprint Black Berries from AT&T though and I must admit that their coverage is a hell of a lot better than it used to be years ago when I had them, from what I understand though, the share a lot of Verizons towers.

Voice quality is the worst on AT&T/Tmobile IMO.

I looked into switching to AT&T and it was going to be 10 or 20$ more a month for me to be with Att than Verizon with a similar plan. My Verizon plan is 450 minutes, unlimited in, unlimited night and weekend, unlimited in texts/pix, 500 texts/pix to off network. Pay between 57 and 58 a month...

Best coverage in my area. Excellent analog coverage in the back of beyond. Too bad that dies Feb 18th. I use my phone as a phone so I don't know much about the twittlers and twattlers that come on those fancy schmancy wireless appliances.

In the Los Angeles area, Verizon and Sprint service is just about identical. The only benefit that I'm getting by sticking with Verizon is that a lot of my friends and family have it and I get tons of free in-calling.

The poll option which states, "love Verizon and works a majority of the time" is a little silly. I would hope that most cell providers work most of the time. It's more the annoyance that about three calls a month get dropped as I'm living in a friggen metropolis.

Out of the top carriers (ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint), I find them to have the best coverage in the North East. Their signal strength also seems to be better and work more often in big buildings and basements, etc. The service is better than ATT and T-Mobile for sure. Only downside is you can't get any uber European phones which we don't get here in the US.

I think they are the most balanced.

does anyone have that? I'm seriously asking. We're on a family plan, so it works out, but at one time, I wanted a phone just for emergencies... the pay as you go phones had minimums that seemed ridiculous, I might as well do the family plan (which is sorta what ended up happening). t-mobile is a little cheaper, but reception seems to be absolutely crap for where I tend to be.

Data plan is stupid expensive. However, coverage is great, reliability is great, and so is customer service.
Phone selection is thin and mostly weak. There are a few gems though.

One could hope that most service providers work most of the time but alas. Verizon has much better coverage through most of Arizona, outside the reservations. On the reservations, AllTel is the only service, all others are dead. Unfortunately AllTel's off-res coverage sucks. The reservations are huge so we are blessed with big service gaps.

Like the others said more expensive than the others, a little better coverange, really sucky choice of phones. This last time around I went T-Mobile and got a BB 8100 (Pearl) for $-50 <<< I love this phone and the coverage isn't bad at all in Tucson, AZ.

I think you mean EVDO network... 3G network is with GSM based phones.

Anyway I haver verizon and wish they wouldn't botch the crap out of the features on their phones. Thanks to the incredible community on the internet I'm able to get cooked roms for my XV6800 (same as sprint mogul). So my phone now uses EVDO rev A and the gps chip is enabled.

They service blows chunks. My phone has died, the battery has died, the charger is a piece of junk.

Every time I try to get ahold of someone I end up on hold for at least 30 minutes. Even then, the service people usually arn't any help.

Pricing plans are more expensive than Cingular or T-Mobile.



I'm switching to Cingular or T-Mobile in April when my contract is up.

Outside of prepay, does anyone offer a family plan for less than $70/month? The cost of the basic plans from all the providers are essentially the same, things like data/text are where Verizon's prices are out of line.

I have TMobile and pay 49.95 / 1500 anytime, free nts/weekends, and $4.99 more/mo for 400 extra txt. Comes to ~ 65.00/mo w/taxes and fees, and I can use any SIM-based phone.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon last year and have been very happy. No problems at all with coverage here and I really like the LG phone I have. Excellent reception and voice quality.

AT&T can suck my ass! Once they took over Cingular they ruined the service. Not to mention their customer service is some of the worst in the entire damn galaxy. Ranks right up there with DirecTV's.

Verizon is expensive, but their coverage is great, especially if you are using it for work. I hear that Cingular/AT&T are catching up in coverage area vs. Verizon.

You would get more usable results by asking people in the area you will be using the phone. Even if Verizon (it is great where I live) is great in 75% of the country, that wouldn't help you if you live in the other 25%.
