You quickly learn not to dwell on things so much when you realize that in 5 minutes your life could be turned upside down by a million different things... Disease, a car coming through your house, or the sun going supernova. Please don't dwell on the things that really don't matter.

Hear me my son. You cannot change the past. You can only change that which you can change in the future and hope to have the wisdom to accept that which you cannot change.

Regret will tear at your soul. Read the serenity prayer.

To make it easy you should nit cry over spilt milk just try not to spill it next time.

"Daddy?"

"Yes, son?"

"What does regret mean?"

"Well, son, a funny thing about regret is that it is better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done. And by the way, if you see your mom this weekend, be sure to tell her SATAN, SATAN, SATAN!!!"

Errors are only mistakes if you don't correct them. I saw that on a poster.

The only way to get rid of regrets is to stop making them. Focus on living your life correctly. Hesitate when making decisions, don't trust yourself at first. Once you learn to live your life the right way, your regrets hide in the shadow of your victories.

I deal with regret by having sex. Typically I'll just sleep with someone and make myself feel better. It makes me look like a whore for doing it and often makes people angry at me, but at worse it just gives me new regret to think about.

It's a pretty vicious cycle...

Wish I could be more helpful but I only know one way to let go of regret, guilt, shame, demons, and baggage:
Stop caring.
Thats all. Just remind youself in the grand scheme of your life it really doesnt matter and there isnt shit you can do about it anyway.
IF there is something you could do to correct the situation then you need to try, otherwise it will eat a whole in your psyche until the day you die.
If it actually does matter in the scheme of your life but you cant do anything about it, then remind yourself it doesnt mean much in the grand scheme of the world and all your actions are utterly pointless to about 6 billion people.

I have no idea how George W Bush sleeps at night. He fucked up America real good and did a dirty deed to the rest of the world as well.

Also, as others have pointed out, there are literally about 1 million variables for which you cannot account and about 100,000 you cannot change. Dont worry about shit you have no knowledge of or power over. Its pointless and will just make you crazy.

Learn something from it, apply it to life, become wiser. And keep your mind occupied with more important things.

And become more apathetic. Really. I'm a compassionate person, but I know when to stop caring about stuff. Put the stuff you can actually do something about - responsibilities, current relationships, etc - at the front of your mind, and leave the rest in the dust.

Make out with her sister or best friend.

Seriously man, look at where you're headed not were you've been. And understand, by recognizing that you've made "mistakes"... you've learned and can grow from the experience. You just have to take hold and figure out whats important to you in life and go for it.

I agree with everyone. Mostly. Dont dwell on the negative, before it consumes you.. think of the positive. I read a quote a few years back that basically said that no matter how bad things are/were, they could get/havebeen worse. Apply it to your situation, and try not to make the same mistakes in the future:)

Regrets are part of what makes this life your own. Without them life lacks contrast and depth. Dont worry, you will have more. But don't dwell on them as there will be far better times too.
Its life kid, pick your ground and don't look back, but always remember the trail.
