How do you know when to kiss the chick?

<----Also doesn't know when the appropriate time is...I'm very slow and methodical in a relationship, so a kiss means a lot to me...I waited 3 weeks before I kissed my girl/ex of 2.5 years. 🙂
 
It's always hard to tell with women, but you can test the waters by doing something like starting off with kiss on the hand and then kinda working your way up. If she takes the second kiss it could be shock, but if she doesn't say something by the third one she's probably into you enough that you could get a kiss. If not... well it's less embarassing than trying to flat-out kiss her and getting turned down. Oh, another tip: try to be sort of humorously cute about it if you're really nervous about getting shot down; at least then you can laugh it off as a joke gone bad.

Its the fear of getting shot down that makes it uncomfortable on the first kiss. People say its obvious, but how do you really know? Do you start moving your face closer to hers and if she doesn't move back its the right sign (like on TV).

exactly. well, my best first kiss was with my first real gf. We were hanging out for a couple weeks with friends and I was occasionally walking her to her dorm. one night I asked her if she wanted to take a walk so we did. It was very cold, but we talked for about 2 hours in a empty field, we walked back, and just before we got to her dorm (across from mine) I saw a couple kissing... so I thought hey, that's a good idea. I walked her to the door and kissed her. The end. (later I learned she actually stayed up all night in the lobby of her dorm waiting for me to come back.... *kick myself again*... could have hit it that night)

more recently, I had a mini affair last summer when my chick was getting on my nerves a lot and talking to some older rich guy. I met a chick on match.com and hung out for a couple hours in NYC. At the end of the couple hours I was still nervous and didn't know what kinda vibe she was getting, so I just gave her a big hug when I had to go. The second time we met around her place in queens and got some tea at a local place (very nice area). After a couple minutes, she sat in my lap so I went with the flow. Ten minutes after we left the shop I kissed her, but you could tell (the lap sitting) that she was into it, so instead of going home (didn't kick myself this time) we made out and after a few harrasing comments from local security guys, went straight for her house.

gotta love the obvious girls 🙂.

[I should add, that I was constantly aiming the second girl from the time of the first meeting to the second, so it wasn't a complete suprise that she was into it]
 
I find it obvious.

I was confident in my first kiss. I liked her, and I knew she liked me, so why not?
Hell, I'm always in charge in things like these, so it doesn't even matter 😛

Gah. Don't ask... chivalrous, but it kinda kills the mood.

The last time I kissed someone (who happens to be PAINFULLY shy, and who has told me more than once he just can't make the first move on a girl), we were lying down talking... and trust me, you can FEEL sexual/romantic tension. During a pause in the conversation, we just kinda looked at each other... and I think he thought "oh well, what the hell", because he just leaned forward and... well, that was that. 🙂

I guess my answer is, "Wait until there's a pause in the conversation, and if she's looking at you expectantly, go for it!"
