I'm thinking about getting the game. What do you think of it? How does it compare to others in the series? Specifically FFIII(US)?

Sorry, I'm still in Thunder Valley.

Spoooon:

I've only played 7, 8, and 9 before this, and X is the best by far and wide of all of them. 10/10 rating from me - absolutely stunning.

MGS2 was also brilliant.

So was Devil May Cry... and Soul Reaver 2... :):):)

Basically you have to hit them with an attack that will kill them quickly. Then run when they get down under a certain number of hit points. I found it easiest to hit them with small magic attacks, then have Tidus come in for a finishing blow. If you hit them with a large attack that almost kills them, they will take off running. I'm not sure on their exact hit point numbers, but I have the hintbook at home and it says what it is. I'll try to post it when I get home.

OK, I remember in 7, 8, and 9 you had to kill them really quick or they ran away. One massive blow from something powerful. But to even get a blow in you needed something that let you strike first - like an ability/mana/whatever equipped.

Or if you can get a spell in, sleep/stone might work.

You might not have the agility or power to get any this early in the game (depending where they are).

Try this board at www.gamefaqs.com - I read thru the guides on there but found nada, sorry. But the boards might help (watch out for spoilers!!!).

I am a huge FF Series Buff, and I think X is at least as good as III(US), if not better.

My only complaint is that in the beginning there is a LOT of Cinematic Stuff, but the way the game goes in and out of "movie mode" so seamlessly, with usually little to no load time, it's not annoying.

I killed the little cactus dude using Auron's Overdrive. One hit and it was dead. I was a bit surprised actually that it died so quickly.

Also got an Overkill on that Overdrive.

What I'm pissed about is that Square is releasing another version of FFX called Final Fantasy X International that comes with a bonus disc with extra stuff, including an extended CGI ending called "Eternal Peacetime" that is set a few years after the US version ends. But, its not going to be available in the US. I hope someone makes an mpeg of that "Eternal Peacetime" ending so us in the US can see it. After the ending I had so many unanswered questions.

This is just a guess on my part, but shortly after I got past the desert, Auron learned an ability called Threaten, which freezes the opponent in place. Perhaps this would work to keep 'em in place?

you need a character with high agility to be able to hit the cactuar. my tidus has no problem hitting the cactuar. probably 9/10 times but of course this is before the final boss and i leveled him quite a bit so his agility is very much higher than the first time you entered the desert. the cactuar's hp is pretty low so don't worry about using a super powerful magic to kill it. focus on something that will most likely hit like overdrives and summons. aeons usually have good accuracy just summon one and you should be able to kill it in one hit.

i'm pretty much 95% through the game. right before the last boss but of course i'm finding the secrets first. about 50% through on that. PM me if u have any questions.

btw, the game's storyline is alot more interesting than the previous FF (aside from 3). it catches you early on unlike 7,8, and 9. but i am still not sure if the new system they implemented (sphere grid, battle, etc) is a good thing.

I never got him. I finally found out what you had to do, but then I couldn't get him because I didn't have all the stuff you needed to get him. The only hidden Aeon I got was Yojimbo, but that bastard always wants money. He is really cool looking though, I love that japanese warrior look.

I think Bahamut and Anima are great but on the other hand, I consider the Magus Sisters pretty weak...

*spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler* *spoiler*

Is it just me or was Yu Yevon the weakest and easiest thing to defeat in the entire game?

What is the deal with Anima? Is he like a tortured soul that gets dragged up from hell? His whole summon animation and attacks are really cool. I like how he is all chained up.

I think that was by design, maybe it was more just a symbolic thing than anything. You couldn't even die during that fight because all characters automatically had auto-life. They were probably going to make that part a CGI sequence, but just decided to make it interactive. I thought the hardest fight in the game was Seymour Flux, the seymour you meet on Mt Gagazet. He beat me like 8 times before I figured out how to beat him. The Seymour you meet in Sin on the other hand was a freaking push over. I don't even think he got a hit on me.

His Cross Cleave attack was pretty tough. I think he was way easier in the beginning than in the end. His Total Ahnilation attack was lame!

Don't worry I totally missed all the items the first time through as well. Once you get the airship and have visited Bevelle, you can go back to all the cloisters of trials. He is absolutely worth getting. Since my Yuna is pretty well leveled (thus Anima as well), Anima does like 70,000 damage with regular attack.

<<I think Bahamut and Anima are great but on the other hand, I consider the Magus Sisters pretty weak...>>

You gotta be kidding right??? First of all Bahaumat and Anima is only one person. They can't really heal themselves except if you teach them Curaga but then it still wastes a turn, plus their agility isn't too great. The Magus Sister's get 3 turns. The fat chick always casts good defense spells. And if Yuna is really leveled up, each of the sister's attack can inflict 50,000+ damage! So 3 sister's attacking in one turn can do 150,000+ damage. Even Anima and Bahaumat's overdrive can't pass 99,999.

<<What is the deal with Anima? Is he like a tortured soul that gets dragged up from hell? His whole summon animation and attacks are really cool. I like how he is all chained up.>>

Well Anima is Seymour's mom. She wanted to provide him with one of the most powerful aeons to quench his thirst for power but obviously it wasn't enough. I guess Seymour's mom was kinda in pain emotionally and it played out in the aeon.

Now here's a brain buster, how come the final aeon (supposedly the strongest) can't even stand against anima/magus sister??? Actually for the last boss, I only used Holy to kill each one of them. 2-3 Holys and they all fall. I guess I shouldn't make my guys too strong :)
