How do you keep your dress shirt from getting wrinkled in the car?

by the time I get to work my dress shirt is all wrinkled by my belt from the seatbelt in my car :disgust:

How do you guys help prevent this?

Will light starch help?

I'm already wearing those "wrinkle proof" treated cotton poly blend shirts.

hmm. sometimes i will lean forward and stretch the back of my shirt, but generally i don't worry about stuff like that. you gotta figure everyone is getting some wrinkles at some point in the day, no?

Buy a large paperweight or a square stone thing from Home Depot, and then put it on your shirt so it can't get wrinkled.

i've struggled with this for some years.. i switched to a thicker material and that helped a bit, but not great.

i've found nothing better than a non-iron shirt. you can literally wear these as soon as you take them out of the dryer.

Paul Frederick is where I buy almost all of my dress shirts. a little pricey, but excellent quality (plus you can get 7% cashback thruogh FW).

EDIT: i do have a few non-iron shirts from Kohls that work well, too. Not the same quality, but they are in my regular shirt rotation.

That's all I wear. Non wrinkle poly shirts.

Cotton wrinkles even out of the dryer.

I don't even try. As soon as I get to work I plop in a chair all day, so the chair will wrinkle them if the car seat doesn't

The only tip I've found to work is this: Get one of those HUGE black clip things w/ the silver pieces that'll snap back and forth (ya know, typical office supply...clips papers together) and after you buckle your seatbelt, pull the belt away from and clip that clip atop your seatbelt. It'll leave lotsa slack now so the belt won't wrinkle the front. Yes it's very unsafe, but hey...

some shirts are much easier to wrinkle than others. I notice this because I wear them once in a blue moon and ironing at all is a hassle.

yeah.. broadcloth is like this. very soft and nice, but it wrinkles before I even get a tie completely on.

I take it one step further and don't even bother to put the shirt on when I get to work.

It saves me having to wash and iron them too!

I work at a high brow financial place. I think they would frown on me getting dressed in the parking lot lol.

So you guys that "take it off before you get there" are in the parking lot putting on your shirt before going into the office?

seems suspect

It's not exactly "getting dressed." You wear an undershirt don't you? If you don't, you should. You can easily put your shirt on in the car. It's really not that weird.

Options:

1) Walk to work
2) If you want to drive Don't wear a seat belt
3) If you want to wear a seatbelt dont wear the shirt
4) If you want to wear the seat belt and the shirt wear a jacket so the shirt does not get wrinkled.
5) If you still hate it, CHANGE you job (become a UPS driver)
