How do you keep your computer wiring clean and organized?

I'm curious because I want my next system to look very nice through the window. I will have all round cables that are UV sensitive and/or clear cables for hard drives, cd drives, and floppy drives. I'll have 3 fans with Quad LEDS, CCFL, Antec PSU with 2 fans that have LED's, and the DFI Lan Party Pro motherboard.

Is there something else I should do other than ro unded cables to keep it neat?

I use small cable ties and some creative wiring methods.

Stuff ide and floppy cables under motherboard tray. I got one of those cable wrap things that you can stick. Have one stuck up to to hold up the ps wires. Leave the top drive
bay empty to stuff extra cables from the ps in there.

Wiring shows what I use and can be bought at any auto parts store. I use that and cable ties. Take a trip down to Auto Zone to find em.

I have always wondered this too. I would love to know how Alienware gets the inside of their cases to look so organized. All their wiring is damn near perfect if you've ever seen the inside of their systems.

I run all the cables from the PSU behind the MoBo tray, except for the unused cables which get coiled up and cable-tied behind the PSU. The wiring then goes behind the drive bays until it comes out at each device. All IDE and floppy cables are folded neatly out of the way of the airflow. All wiring is held in place with cable-ties.

Im pretty unique when it comes to this....I strip all the wires and splice them all together, so all I have is 1 cable in my entire case. pretty nifty eh ;-)

I actually use ties. their tubular

One thing I use that I didn't think I saw mentioned here is velcro wire wraps. I bought these at a number of places including Wal-Mart and Home Depot. Here's some at Radio Shack. They are nice because the are easily removed and reapplied. Good for those cables you just know you be rearranging again and again. The excess can be cut off with scissors. Another useful item is these mini cable clips from Radio Shack (and elsewhere). I use those to put the fan and sound cables through. When I have to remove my side panel, which has a fan, I just take the wire out of the clamp. That way I don't have to disconnect the fan just to peek inside.

Edit: Almost forgot one of my favorites, these wire tie mounts. The picture doesn't show what this is clearly, but this sticks (with double stick tape that's on the back) to the bottom/side of the case. Then you put a small wire tie around some cables and through the mount before locking/connecting it. It keeps the cables from moving around in the wind or when the case is sitting upright after being built on it's side. They stay nice and close to the side.

Any recomendations for my computer?

I am sure that the rounded cables would be a good move, but they cost so damn much when you have 9 drives:( BTW, there are so many cables because I try to give as many drives their own channel as possible (I have 8 channels in the machine)

They aren't the neatest but they are pretty darn good. The second system has all black rounded cables and the first uses all clear ones. Lots of time playing with everything is what it takes. It's cool to run the cables behind your motherboard but when it comes time to actually work on your system, it can be a real pita.

Spac3d, use wire loom ... really easy - they're like tubing for your cables and they're already split along the axis so that they're easy to install/remove.

What is that blue wrap you used on your power cables? Also, that is there only to make it look nice, otherwise it would be just an electrical wire, right? (So what I'm asking is in those blue cables, is the only thing there a wire for electricity?)

What is that stuff called? Is that wire loom or something? I want to do something like that for my next system because it looks so neat and organized.

Also, what kind of Cold Cathode lighting is that? I want to get that exact same one so the name of the place you got it would be nice.

Again, VERY NICE wiring!

Round cables and zip ties. The excess Power supply cable is stuffed between my DVD drive and mobo plate. Drive power cables I have running along the side then up.

you can get some pretty good cold cathodes from svc.com for cheap.

yea those are looms. theres a sticky thread at the top of this or the case forum about how u do it. sorta a pain though, you gotta take all the connectors off to thread wires through the material.

http://fox302.com/index.pl?s=vg&user=oroooroo&category=Case well its not exactly perfect yet, but its the same case basically, but less mess:) zip ties are your friend. the extra wires that were useless i taped to the top of the case. i guess you could toss em behind the m/b tray or behind the drive bays too.

yea thats how i'd want it. but hiding the wires like that is hard! esp if you have a ton of drives:(
