How do you keep track of your to do list?

I almost posted this in software, since I figured an application my my PC was a good bet. But I wanted to see what other options people use.

I am very forgetful, I will think of something I need to do and then 2 minutes later forget to do it. I recently started back to school, so on top of my normal day to day things, I now have homework to worry about as well.

Sometimes things just pop in my head that I realize I need to do, or maybe even something as trivial as a web site I want to check out. And if I don't write it down or something, I will likely forget about it by the time I have time to do it.

So how do you guys keep tabs on what stuff you need to do? Pen and paper, post it notes, computer program, etc...?

Google.com/ig To Do list.

Although I really don't keep a to do list. Most of it is in my head, which means I forget some parts sometimes.

Post-its. There is an application I liked, called EverNote, but didn't use it enough to warrant buying the full version, which would synchronize across multiple PCs, which is what I really needed. For digital stuff, I stick to NotePad++

I use post-it, only problem is I don't remember if I did it or not?...scary...

In my little book, I draw checkboxes to the left of the task that I check off once the task is complete.

For example:

[ ] Climb a mountain

Anybody ever use this.

Sounds neat, accessible from any computer connected to the net

You can view your list as an RSS feed

I forgot about google, I used to have a personalized page. Seems like they have several to do lists to choose from.

I know firefox has some to do extensions as well. I installed one once, but never used it.

I use a program called Keynote that I use. It's basically a text editor that has a hierarchical file format. Not only do I keep a list of stuff to do, I take notes under each item in an outline format. I also use it to keep track of all sorts of other important information (basically any information that I could find myself asking myself one day "where did I put that?" - it all goes in hierarchical file.

I can't believe no one has posted that their wife keeps a close eye on the To-Do list progress 😛 That is how it works at my place.

I make notes and then I just forget I made them. For awhile I used a Yahoo widget to do list, but I would start to ignore it after awhile so it became useless. Yea, I have bad time management skills. Probably why I'm stuck in a crappy desktop support job and didn't create Youtube or something.

That is definitely not an option for me, I am a righty

I would prefer something that I always have access too. So i am leaning towards something web based. I can do to do stuff with my phone, but it is a pain to enter. And I can't always have a pen and paper on me. SO I think web based would work the best

word document... it works well for me for work related issues, but for life related issues i need something much better :

It's somewhere under one of these stacks of papers on my desk...thanks to Anna Nicole Smith's death today I've been very unproductive this afternoon. 😛

Heard about ti, but haven't paid much attention, do they know what killed her?

For appointments & meetings, Outlook calendar
Everything else I keep a notepad & pen next to my keyboard

With an IT dept. as small as our the To-Do list is critical to keeping on top of things.

i don't. i gave up. my to-do list was just depressing - a bunch of annoying chores i didn't want to do anyway. now i don't worry about it and i'm much happier reading a book or watching a good movie. if anything is THAT important it will quickly become so obvious that it will be impossible to ignore it and you won't need a list to remind you!

I use backpack's lists feature, which is from the same folks (37signals) and pretty similar, at least for what I need it to do.

I love it. wish they had a calender in the freebie backpack version, though.
