How do you interpret the emoticons?

i see 😕 as being different than what the icon shows. Do you guys go by how the face looks or by what you type to make the face?
 
The emoticon you posted is the face people try to give when they are confused. Thus, in that example that you gave, they are one and the same.

However, I can see you wanting to post that as a drunk face too. In that case, the drunk aspect overrides the confusion name. As you read a post, you go off of context, you don't quote the post just to see what names they used for the pictures. They could give that emoticon the name "pussycat" for all I care.
 
I think the confused smiley is pretty straight forward. Hell, you have to type out :confused; in order to get it.
 


I ignore the smiley's entirely and have no idea whatsoever what they are supposed to mean and/or represent beyond the basic smile one
