Anyone know how to take your Windows XP CD, replace certain files, so you can do one install on any computer and SP2 is already installed with the XP OS?

What if my win xp cd is does not come with service pack 1??? do i have to "sliptream" it first with sp1 files??

Also, do i have to download the 270 MB version of the sp2?? or can i do it with the express one?

You don't need SP1. The service packs are cumulative. You can update the Gold release (no SP) with SP2 without slipstreaming Sp1 first.

I believe you need the full file 266mb to do the slipstream.

Correct. It won't work with the Express version.

That is awesome...

Except you are stuck with putting in a pre-determined Name, Organization, Computer Name, and Admin Password, and Time Zone...

If you want to have multiple installs from one custom made disc, how can you choose this info only at the time you do the install.

Would be nice to drop the CD in, enter in the appropiate info for that computer, and walk away until the install is completed...

unattended installs can be loaded from a floppy or burn directly to the cd.
