How do you insert breaks into word

When I try the 'insert--break' option in word, it creates a break but not the kind I want. I need a break kind of like a line spacer. I pulled up this brochure template in word and I'm trying to replicate it but I'm having difficulty.

you mean like a page break? or like a double-space type of thing?

Nevermind, I just realized what I needed... I needed to use the "borders function" not page break...

by default, the autoformat function will turn multiple dashes into that line (it can be turned on in the autoformat options)
