How do you host in Unreal 2003?

I hit the host multiplayer button, and I setup everything, but when I start the game, it fills up with bots!

Its not a dedicated server, because I want to play in the game too, so I unchecked that. And I hit the button to use map defaults. I didnt touch the bot skill level box, and I added the instagib mutator.

Sounds like its easy to set this up, but for some reason bots are the only thing I play against, this sucks!

Oh, and this is the patched demo version too. Maybe the patch screwed it over....

Just go to ipchicken.com and memorize your IP. Go to host a server and look for something that says something about turning bots off. Then check on dedicated server. After the server starts UT will minimize into a box. Well open UT2003 again leaving the box down in your system try as soon as you get into UT2003 bring down the console and type: open xxx.xx.xxx.xx (Whatever your IP is).

You need a good system though before it would run good this way.

Me and my friends do this all the time.

I cant find the setting which turns the bots off!

maybe its because of the patch, I have no idea. Either way all I have are two options regarding bots:

1. Skill level
2. Use custom bots

nowhere is there any mention of bots. could it be that I required a minimum of 4 players to play the game?

I think I found your problem. Make sure use map default is unchecked under the server options.
