if you really want to, also follow this guide to get power and use the ipod connector for line out (better volume).

my friend has the Belkin FM tranny, (;P) and it works pretty well. He drives an old Suburu Legacy and he lives in San Francisco.

While i was in California a month ago, i went to Costco in Modesto, i saw a FM transmitter (8 channels) that you plug directly in the car's lighter, the transmitter is very small, you can plug every walkman or discman headphones output in it, OR an USB memory stick with all your
MP3's on it, you can browse your songs and play them from the memory stick.

The only reason why i did not buy the FM transmitter, is because it only plays MP3's with a bitrate of 128 kbps or below from the USB memory stick. All my songs (more than 4000) are above 128 kbps. The price was only 18 $, which i think is really cheap, you should give
a try on this item, if you don't like it, just return it.

Pod2Car. Works with your factory stereo and easy to install. Way better sound quality than the FM transmitter or tape deck. It charges the ipod also.

Buy a VW Jetta. The new models have a interface where you plug in your ipod and control it via the in dash terminal.

the aux mod is also plug and play... and is only $50. Does the same thing. The rest of the stuff is nice to do because you can use the line out.. much much better volume from that. It also charges your ipod at the same time. unfortunately, it's terribly backordered. but in terms of simplicity.. same deal.
