Is he taking out the neighbors lights or just his own?

If it's just his own, what's the problem? He doesn't wanna pay for the power.

The old dude is turning off the other guys lights, even taking the bulbs.

And when confronted, what happened?

The old guy either flees to inside his house or says it was too bright and goes on about how there shouldn't be lights on at night.

Dude, you weren't clear.

And people rant about stupid shit here, so we could of had one of those "WHY DOES MY NEIGHBOR TAKE OUT HIS LIGHTS AND WHY DONT I MIND MY OWN BUSINESS" threads.

But now that we know...well I can say without a doubt..

That the old guy needs to go to Prison for 8-10 years.

Seriously though, he needs to stop.

There is probably 30-50' between there properties. It's normal landscapign lights and downward firing floods.

This is not a case where someone is shining lights into another's home.

the guy keeps turning off his security lights

This statement is very ambiguous. You're just mad because you fail at storytelling. :p

And has he tried talking to the guy??

Tell him to stay the hell off the property and leave the lights alone. FSet up cameras. If it continues, call the police and file a report.

Doesn't need the cameras, he has caught him. He doesn't want to involve the police or escalate this. He thinks the old dude is crazy (which he is).

I told him there is not much to do other than accept it or escalate. Talking to the guy didn't work.

I can see having the landscaping lights.

But why would you need floods on all night?

Maybe you could get one of those "invisible" electric dog fences and overclock it. Then the next time he's over, put the collar on him.

Maybe your friend could have a friendly talk with the old guy's wife. Maybe she can nag him into leaving the lights alone, or get some good curtains/shades, or knock grandpa out with some sleeping pills in the evening.

here we go...little atot nerds looking into a story far too much. It's fairly common to have a property lit at night around here, but we aren't hillbillies.

He called his lights security lights so more than likely a very dim light until motion happens and then they light up. I have similar ones at my place for the driveway and rear of the home.

His neighborhood has larger properties not the typical ghetto type where you can touch your neighbors house from yours. I think they are 1/2 acres.

Why even have street lights then in a neighborhood?
