i have an old bios, and i think a new one fixes the problem i'm having

F11 Bios Fixes S3 Resume Problems

I've downloaded the latest F11 .exe Bios from Gigabyte, but i'm not sure what to do with it.

what method is the best to update the Bios on this motherboard? (Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P Rev. 2.0)

Does it have Q-Flash? If it does, just toss the BIOS file on a FAT-formatted USB flash drive and hit a key on boot-up.

Q-Flash Ver 2.05 worked fine with me!. that was the version i had installed with the MB.

steps i took:
1. backed up OS HDD's documents
2. formatted USB Drive to Fat32
3. extracted bios (P35DSP.F11) to USB drive
4. restarted
5. press end to load up Q-Flash
6. updated bios from USB drive
7. let Q-Flash work for 5 minutes
8. rebooted
9. testing for stability

updated bios, loaded optimized defaults, manually set voltages, stability testing at stock speeds and PC hardlocks/freezes/hangs.
happens with OCCT and P95.

i am def giving my 2.4ghz Q6600 enough voltage at 1.3vCore. ram timings are set manually too. help? do i need to reset cmos?

Yep I would clear the CMOS. Also make sure to manually set the rated timings and voltage for your RAM. Is it hanging at the POST screen? What part of POST is it specifically hanging at?

It was hanging in windows, often during idle (overnight, or when i was afk for a while)

never during post, and it always restarted fine

After you flash the bios, you should set everything to optimized settings and then do the manual tweaks. I have found that there is usually a setting that you don't fiddle with that is the problem.

Reboot-- Set optmized settings--Set manual settings--Reboot and you should be good to go.
