How do you guys measure 2D quality?

I have an Asus v7700 GF2 GTS. I hear Geforce is known for not having that great of 2D quality, especially from the GF2 line. What exactly does it mean? Just your desktop in general? I don't really understand how it could look any better

If you want to know first hand here are some ways of doing it:

Either go to a EE lab and use an oscilliscope

OR

Buy a video card that is "known" with better 2D. Such as Built by ATI Radeon 8500/9500/9700 or a Matrox Parhelia or a Canopus GeForce3/4 series.

Of course its entirely dependant on how good your monitor is.

If you do not have a problem with any noticable image quality flaws, don't start looking. Chances are that you won't be able to notice anything unless they are pointed out to you. Also don't try to learn the differences as it usually just makes you always disappointed in image quality for everything.

Subjectively, I guess. A GF3 Ti200 and Radeon 8500 side-by-side on the same model of display, the Radeon has a sharper image with less 'blurring' of colors.

Subjective experience. When I installed my Radeon, I thought something was actually wrong with my monitor because the text was so crisp that I could make out every jag perfectly. Now I have a ti4200 and it's like all the text is anti-aliased.
