Ok, I know that lots of you have sold/bought stuff on-line before.. I have a whole room full of stuff that I want to sell. Not just computer stuff either! Car parts and various other things...

But how do I go about it? I know where to post to sell the stuff and I could always go to eGay... but the question is.. who sends out the goods first?

Do most of you wait to recieve the money before you send out the item? Or do you send out the item first and then wait for the money? Anything I have sold on-line was to somebody I know (through the forum or whatever). But what about those who we don't know?

What is the safest way to make sure that I get my money? At the same time, I don't want to buyer to be uncomfortable...

Any words of advice or wisdom??

With as long as I have been on the internet, you would think this would have come up before! :)

I really apprecaite it.

If its something that is pure crap that no one in their right mind would buy, I'd go to Egay and use paypal for payment for it. If it is something computer parts I'd go to the FS/FT forum. I might make a little more on Egay, but I feel better doing it here. Plus AT doesn't take a part of my profit :D

eBay is lucrative for the seller, imo. Not always great for the buyer, but I've had fun buying there as well :D

If the parts are for a specific car, the track down websites for that car and post in a classifieds section.

Computer parts, try FS/FT, if you don't get your price, eGay it and put a reserve. Worked very well for a laptop I sold in August. I gave the guy my home phone and cell phone (in case he had questions) and had him PayPal me the money. After I got the money, I transferred it to my bank account. When it showed up there I sent the laptop. Worked smooth as silk.

He had actually gone over his PayPal limit and had to send me like $11 extra. I shipped the laptop before he sent the check and told him that shipping was more than I had posted in the auction (didn't specify how much) and he just made the check an even $20 which actually split the difference. Me eating half, him paying half. I was pretty happy with it all.
