How do you get the Temperature from the CPU?

How do you det it? I only know the m-board temperature its 32 C how high could i get it up if i want to overclock but stll run stable.
By the way how do unlock an Athlon T-Bird? Changing the fsb didn't work. I know there is some pencil method but please be more specific!!

Well, on a socket A boards, such as the ABIT KT7, there's a built in thermistor in the middle
of the socket base for the CPU. Now on the slot A, I think you have to use a wire with a thermistor on the end, and physically mount it to the CPU(?),providing there is a connection on
your motherboard for it.
As far as the pencil trick goes, that only works for the Duron and Thunderbird socket A processors. Sorry. :frown:

you need to order a thermal probe. It is a cable with a sensor on its end. I believe if you look in the manual k7m had one.
I think that 2cooltek.com should have them.

pencil trick is for socket tbirds. Yours should work with a GFD.

Yes Gladiator, the preferred method for finding CPU temperature is to place your tounge directly on the heatsink. If the placement of your tounge is accompanied by a sizzling sound and a scent of burning flesh you should purchase a larger heatsink/fan combo or lower your cpu speed.
The pencil method of which you speak is simple. simply erase the speed of the processor and then write a new speed right on the chip. i.e. if you have a duron 650 simply erase the 650 and make it 900. (don't be too greedy) I read once on overclockers.com that you can also change the duron to thunderbird as well, but that sounds a little far fetched to me.
