I downloaded and ran the client, put in my email, ran it again. It's crunching OGR and I want to do RC5. Also, it's running in a dos window or something like that. I downloaded the Win98 version. I don't see a cow on the systray but it's crunching @ 10%. How do I get this thing set up?

I assume you read our FAQ (the milk in my sig.) Next, you need Paulson's tutorials.

Edit: Blast, you're fast! Maybe I can quote Russ before he gets here:

<< In your dnetc.ini file, add the following line:

[misc]
project-priority=RC5,OGR=0,DES=0,CSC=0

Then restart the client.

Yep, made it! 😉

Did you download the "Installer" version of the client or the "zipped" version of the client. I think the zipped version (as I had the same problem when I started) ran in some sort of DOS window....The installer version fixed this and gave me the version that is being set up and run on Paulson's page (linked in the thread above!)...🙂

Paulson's page is very good for a beginner...Welcome aboard! You'll enjoy the TA fun!!! 😀

Charlie, I knew you'd come through, now where's JJ??? First he stiffs me on the network equipment then stiffs me on Crackin'. His integrity is in serious doubt...:|

Check this link for some tips I received from the High Priests of RC5, they may be of help--
Answers to stupid questions. Let us know if you don't get the Cow Icon after using the Installer version.

Let us know if you don't get it working, someone here will be able to help. Charlie has 3 boxes in his home, need to get 'em crackin 24/7!!

the dnet client uses both a .com file and a .exe file. The .com file looks like a dos application. The .exe is the one that you want to be running. If you used the installer it automatically uses the .exe.

If you just go to run and type dnetc it will automatically run the .com version because of old, arcane dos.
