How do you get Seti@home account support?

I have participated in the Seti@home project for some time now and have almost 90 work units to my credit. However, these work units are scattered over two email addresses. About six months ago I changed ISPs and never thought to change my Seti@home account to reflect the new email address. This address is now inactive. Since I have long since forgot the password I cannot now make any changes to this account from the Seti@home web site. Over the past two months I have sent Seti@home three messages from their web site requesting them to consolidate all my work units under my current email address. I have not even received the courtesy of a reply.

Their lack of response has suprised me. I thought they would do all they can to solicit and maintain the help of as many supporters as they can recruit. This project appeals to me so I do want to continue to help. Howver, since they will not even respond to me I have stopped processing work units. Approximately 6.5 hours per unit on my desktop and about 16 hours on my gateway server amounts to much lost work.

Any suggestions on how to get their attention would be appreciated. I want to help but I am unwilling to help them if they are unwilling to help me with a minor account maintenance problem.

Hmm ,tricky 1 ,they are only a handful of people ,but still they could of answered by now :( ,there is no routine way of putting accounts to just 1 ,so unfortunatly you are at their mercy :(

In the meantime ,why don't you just carry on crunching for your new account & join our team :) ,BTW their are at least 2 team members who are also in your position.

Anyone got any inside 'contacts' to help these people?

Chances are you won't get a response, they have over 2 million participants, with 2 fulltime and a hand full of part time volunteers.

The 2 fulltime people are scientists scrounging for money, attending conferences and presenting papers.

They haven't even got the team stats fixed yet, they've been messed up since 5/1...

Begin RANT

TWO MILLION PARTICIPANTS?!? That's a crock!!!

I've been doing S@H now since April, I'm in 28th place for our team.

If the SETI folks want to make their project easier, just eliminate all of the accounts sitting at ZERO as of 3 weeks ago, and I'll wager that they eliminate better than 25% of the total number of accounts!!!

That would make the stats gathering ALOT more efficient, and give a TRUE picture of where people really stand(stats-wise.)

End RANT

That would still leave 1.5 million stats to deal with.
But it'a true that their are a lot of dead accounts on 0 :(

That sucks, but in their defense I don't see how they could keep up with all the emails they get. I hope you keep join our team and keep crunching.

Good idea about retiring dead accounts.

Some interesting stats:

Project #Active/#Total Members yesterday
======= ==========================
Seti 2354 / 2180884 (1.08%)http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/totals.htm
RC5-64 39,079 / 260762 (14.9%)http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64
OGR-24 8,208 /14874 (55.2%)http://stats.distributed.net/ogr-24
Gamma Flux 679 /6632 (10.2%)http://stats.dcypher.net

Hard to believe that Seti only had 2354 active users yesterday - seems like distibuted.net is attracting the hardcore distributed computing people. Probably also has to do with how long each project has been going on and how long it takes to do a work unit for each project... If I was really ambitious I could probably calculate what % of users/work units the various Anandtech teams contribute to each project...

That 2354 is the number of new users yesterday, the number of active user in the past two weeks is approx 482000.
