how do you get rid of bloodshot eyes? [UPDATE, EXPERIMENT IN PROGRESS]

Ok, so I've been wearing contact lenses for quite some time, but recently i developed some nifty allergies. Now, my eyes are constantly dry and bloodshot. its really annoying. I use Clear eyes CLR (contact lens relief) and it helps a little bit, but most of the time, my eyes are red and dry. Is there anything out there to get rid of this problem? I've tried visine for contacts too. Doesn;t really get the red out 🙁
help! Everyone thinks i've been hitting the bong!

UPDATE: Scroll down to see my latest post: experiment in progress!

I use Bausch and lomb all clear redness reliever eye drops. It works great. yo do have to take off your contacts first thou.

I have fair allergies to everything from animals to pollen and everything inbetween. When I can't stand it, I use ClearEyes. That stuff works like MAGIC.

Carrot juice? Hmm... That seems like it would hurt. 😉

(I know you didn't mean to put it in your eyes..)

Ok, I am about to try and experiment here.
I am not going to wear contact lenses today, and try one of each recommended red-eye remover in each eye. For my left eye I will try visine and in my right eye i will try clear eyes (note that both are for contact lenses). I will check my eyes periodically every 30 minutes and post an update.

Ok, I just put 3 drops in each eye. the visine burns. The clear eyes was cool and nice feeling. within the first 3 minutes, the visine eye still burns a little and is still red. the clear eyes eye is moist, but feels like its drying out already and is still bloodshot. just not as bad as the visine eye. i'll update in 30 minutes.

Visine is rubbish.

The best that I have found is Naphcon-A, and it is made by Alcon. It's pretty spendy ($11.99CDN) but works waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Visine.

<< ok update . . . still blood shot, administered an extra 3 drops to each eye. visine still burns >>

NONONONONO!

Don't put more! It'll make the bloodshotness WORSE! :Q

Ice cubes are your friend here. Wrap it in a clean towel and leave it on top of your eyes ( closed of course. 😛) for about 30 mins. 🙂

<< visine always works fo rme >>

Oh how many times that stuff has bailed me out of getting caught by the parents.

I find that the more you sue eyedrops, the more dependant your eyes become on it. Just don't wear your contacts as much. i use to wear mine almost constantly, until i couldn't take the itchiness. Now, the only time I wear them is if I'm doing some sort of sporting even, or if I know it's going to be very sunny, and I want to wear sunglasses.
