One of the damn management picked up the Sharpie we use to mark CDR's and drew his 6th graders basketball play on our whiteboard.....

One trick that works for our brand of white boards, might not work with yours.

Trace over the permanent marker with a whiteboard marker let sit for a while, then erase, and it takes off the permanent market too. No idea WHY it works, but it does.

You don't?

I remember the last time someone used a permanent marker on the white board at work, they had to buy a new one.

A blend of a Citrus-sol with some Isopropyl alcohol. The Fast Orange 60% with a dash of Isopropyl 40%, don't stay too long
in one place as the alcohol will attack and soften the finish, work for a while, clean it off, let it dry for an hour & finish touching up.

I've always had good success with windex, it's not good for the whiteboard, but it's better than junking it.

Thank goodness. I was going to suggest Xylene, but that's carcinogenic. (But almost guaranteed to work). I'm going to remember that tracing trick. That's a good one!

i'll have to remember the tracing trick.

a long time ago, when i was in a calc class, we had a substitute prof - the head of the math department. he started class, and filled up both of the very large whiteboards. it was only at this time that he realized he'd used permanent marker. we all got to go home early that day, but only if we swore we'd never tell anybody :D

This works. Just scribble over the permanent marks with the marker you normally use on the board. This should remove just about everything. Repeat if desired.
