How do you get a ring off a finger?

My wife bought this ring and it fit on one finger but when she moved it to the other hand it is too tight and now she can't get the ring off.

Amputation is not an option...destroying the ring is an option.

some mixture of butter/oil/cold water should do it.

have her soak it in a mixture of ketchup, pesto, and goat urine for 30 minutes. then laugh at her for being so gullible.

What you need to do is walk it forward slowly, pulling the skin from behind the ring as you go to get rid of the bunches that will happen in front of the ring. If you have trouble getting it over the knuckle, you can wrap string around the finger behind the ring going toward the ring and it should be forced over the knuckle. Soap might help lube, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Also, HOT water will cause the ring to expand slightly and might help too.

Step 1: Mix some water with salt. LOTS of salt.
Step 2: Put a bunch of ice in the water. (optional)
Step 3: Slather a bunch of vaseline around the ring. You can't use too much.
Step 4: Submerge finger in icewater.
Step 5: Wait. If you can still feel your finger, you haven't waited long enough.
Step 6: Remove ring under water.

Butter, KY, or the ice water trick will work. If those don't do it, the ring just needs to be cut off. Maybe there's some way to lubricate it and then get the ring very cold to use both methods of action.
