How do you get a page on a search engine?

If that's the case, does anyone know how long it generally for a created site to show up in a search engine?

firstly, let me state that this was totally unintentional, but my site wound up #1 on google when searching.

i had a site about a certain extended auto company that went bankrupt and left tens of thousands holding worthless contracts...

I put up a discussion board using Frontpage(hey, i'm a business software programmer, not an HTML programmer!) on the site.

Each message was linked to the main page, so everytime someone posted a msg, a new page was created and linked to the main page where all the thread titles display.

Apparently some search engine sites ranks sites based on the # of links to that site. I had thousands of messages, each linking back to the main site.
