The current gen Tiburons do look decent. The previous gen looks horrid. Yes, horrid.
I personally think it looks better than the Celicas.

Have you considered 5th gen Preludes with more confidence inspiring Honda reliability? If you do, don't get auto, they're known for premature failures.

I really like the Tiburon, if it weren't for the FWD I would have bought a new one a few years back.

I see more guys driving them down here, never pictured them as a 'chick's' car.

I would, but the only people that drive Miata are people that date people of the same sex, and trust me, you don't want to driving a miata with the top down on south beach if your not looking for another dude :p

Exdeath, while i know they not might be very fast, but i'd prefer a car with a nice exterior and slower then a faster car with a fugly exterior.

I guess browsing tiburon forums and see the upgrades people do (Tuscani) does not help my cause :(

I can agree to a point on the miata at least in stock condition. Still I don't think any man should have that as his primary car no matter how much power it's putting out.

Fixed. Has nothing to do with the average person. MOST will call it purple.

well, for some reason every one around me says preludes are a POS and its got 100k miles on it.

I've always thought preludes are nice sporty looking and never new why they canceled the line.

You don't need to limit yourself to fwd cars in Florida. If you don't like 2 seater convertibles or something a long the lines of mustangs you can still get something like a BMW 3 series.

bmw's arent reliable. unless you have cashstashed some where or warranty, i wouldnt consider it as a first car. some descent RWD cars would be a nissan 240sx/300zx, if you want something thats not just good in straignt line, practical, and reliable.

Generally speaking Hondas are reliable vehicles, except Honda for some reason in the late 90s to early 2000s had issues with their auto trannies throughout their line, not only Preludes. Civics and Accords had similar problems with their autos failing prematurely. Though when you look at the numbers game considering how many were sold the number of people affected weren't really "significant", especially considering the number of 5th gen auto Preludes sold back in the days were on the decline.

i think they're both pretty crappy choices for fake sports cars, but in the arguement between which is the chick car, which is the man car, the Tiburon would be it. the TC is a redone celica (which was A CHICK CAR) with less quality materials.

Tiburons are a good car, but not much aftermarket support, and mods are espensive. As far as Tiburons being a chick car? About the only car that is truly a chick car is a car that's painted Mary-Kay pink.

Just my .02

I don't know, man... the new VW Beetle seems like a chick car no matter what color it's painted. Hell... It's got a bud vase in it for pete's sake!!

Of course, "merlot mica" sounds like a pretty girly color, too :)

It's pushing the envelope for sure, but I've seen a few 400 hp beetles in basic black that looked plain menacing.

One of my mates has a black one (05 I think), and it looks pretty sharp...

He's a pretty stylish guy and it works for him, but I don't think I could pull it off.

Speaking as a parent, Tiburons are known as invulnearble kid killers. They seem to attract stupid inexperienced drivers. There has been at least two multiple fatality single car accidents involving Tiburons in my area in the past year.

Soon the insurance companies will catch on and the insurance rates will make these cars unaffordable to their target market.

you should just get whichever car you fancy

if you are looking for price/performance, anything used with a VQ35 won't disappoint. will run circles around anything mentioned in this thread (well, except the G35).

be prepared for $70 fill-up's though.

Well yes the price/performance on the VQ cars is MUCH different than the tibby. A much larger price and much more performance from the VQ's so can't really compare them since he is looking for something around 10k

the VQ is nissan's range of their best engines... i was referring to the VQ35DE. The VQ30/35 has been rated by Ward's as one of the best 10 engines from 1995-2007.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VQ

i think it's very efficient for nissan to be able to use the VQ35 across their vehicle lineup.

Tiburons appeal is to young, male drivers. Its power to dollar ratio means that they frequently drive beyond their abilities and/or experience, with diasterous results. Now do you understand?
