Well it looks like Apple may be making a come back, this switch thing it's getting along pretty well. I was a true mac hater, but now since osx 10.2, i'm posting this thread on a 12.1 1ghz powerbook.

So how do you feel about this computer company, after the new laptops came out, and the new 2ghz desktop (when people actually recieve them).

Over priced, yes. Until the G5, I'd also agree that they are under-performing. However, they're still very cool... I have an 800Mhz iMac w/17" LCD, and love it.

through my school, the price price difference between "lower end" mac laptops and centrino based isnt too much. my next purchase will be a 12 inch powerbook

I like the hardware, I somewhat like osx, and I hate the price. But you can't bitch too much about the price; they are targeted towards people that have that much money, so more power to them.

You do realize that with a PC it is not required to run XP, right?

over priced yeah, but this mac i have is top end, and through school it was lower than the centreno i wanted, plus osx is great.

My favorite thing about osx is the installing, just drag to the harddrive and it works.

Over-priced.

Not to mention you can't build your own and they're difficult/impossible to upgrade.

Availability of games isn't as good as PC too.

i agree with that, i wouldnt buy a apple desktop. their powerbooks are a different story though :D

Both platforms run pretty much any OS fine. The only difference that anyone cares about is that you can only run OSX on macs and only run windows on PCs.

can u recommend a better OS?
2k, debian, redhat, mandrake, etc.

i dont even know how to run linux based stuff. also, what advantages does 2k offer over xp?

Can you play any of the new popular PC games on them?
Like :
HL2
Galaxies
Jedi Knight
etc...

IMO if your not creating high performenca graphics, or music editing..then there really is no need for them.

I'd buy OSX if they released it for the PC.

Stability is kind of a given nowadays, all OSes are stable.

And windows 2000 is like 800MB after the install, for just the OS! No apps or anything! That's pretty bloaty ;)

I'd buy OSX if they released it for the PC.

If windows was my only alternative, I would too.

i dont know about you all, but XP for me isnt the most stable per se. random IE crashes, etc...

i used my friends powerbook for a week when he was out of town, not a single crash the whole time
