I think animals should be loved and not killed for your benefits. Humans were never intended to eat meat. We started on this earth as vegetarians and should stay that way. It's healthier too.

Um, you have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

I have a vegan friend who wrote a book on anthropology and it totally makes sense. It has converted many friends to become vegan. I didn't take the extreme approach so I've become a vegetarian but I feel a lot healthier and more energetic than back in my meat eating disordered days. My skin has cleared up and my guilty conscience have become all but a faded memory. It's truly a remarkable revelation in life.
Not to be a dick, but... just because someone wrote a book, well.. it doesen't mean sh!t. 😉

There's nothing wrong with eating healthy. Absolutely nothing. If you can eat a balanced diet without eating meat, that's great.

I eat fish though so I'm not really a pure vegetarian but eating veggies as main dishes definitely helped improve my quality of life.

Oh, I know.. firsthand.

I went on a health food craze for a good 6-8 months a few years back. Let me tell you, I had never felt better. The difference was profound.

I slowly sunk back into the SAD(Standard American Diet), though... It's just too convienent.. eating healthy is expensive. 🙁

The first time I ate Burger King while on that diet, I felt like complete SH!T.

Then I ate it again. And again. Throw in some chips and soda..

Pretty soon that "sh!t" feeling becomes normal again.. and you don't notice it anymore. It's really quite fascinating.

Believe it.

Although there would come a breaking point where salad wasn't giivng you everything you needed.

There's nothing wrong with eating steak, and there's nothing wrong with eating salad.

It only becomes a problem when you eat nothing but steak or nothing but salad.

Ya know what the funny thing is here? Deathkoba is actually giving everyone useful advice and getting flamed for it.

He's getting flamed for telling people humans evolved as herbivores, not omnivores.

I don't think anyone here denies that most people need more fresh veggies in their diet.

Can you say 'vitamin deficiency'? I feel sorry for the kids whose parents are vegans and impose poor brain development on their children.

How do so many people miss the point? It's not killing animals that's the issue.. It's cruelty to animals.

I didn't miss the point:

It's a freakin' slaughter house.

What do you want them to do, play classical music while nubile young virgins jack them off as they wait to be SLAUGHTERED?

I can never tell if what you're posting is trolling or if you actually believe it...

He's Japanese. He believes it.

I'm an animal lover, but in my mind, cruelty and "quick, painless death" are completely different things. It seems as though some of the PETA folks can't distinguish between the two.

but thats the thing, its not a quick and painless death...thats why peta is all up in arms. but thats kewl, cuz you're like most idiots on ANAND, you assume you know the situation cuz you heard from the friend of a friend on a blog on MySpace. thats kewl though.

if this is a repoast, i'm sorry, but this is a pretty good explination of what is happening, and its funny as hell.

It's slaughter house, what else are they going to do there. Pet the cows over the head and sing to them? No, animals that were grown to be killed, go there to be killed.

Many of the practices in these places are frowned upon, while it speeds up production and cuts prices.

Many people don't like eating meat, for one reason or another. I on the other hand love eating meat and chicken, and I don't need to be told how wrong it is, how the cows (and other animals) are tortured before being killed or that there is a "better" alternative, I just want my cheeseburger and I want to enjoy it.

I hate PETA (unless we are talking about People Eating Tasty Animals) b/c they are the ones that get in your face about eating red meat, they are the ones waiting outside fast food joints with small lunch boxes packed with chicken heads and other bloody animal parts, they are the ones that support and "donate" money to eco-terrorist groups who in turn take that money and use it for explosives and blow stuff up. That makes a whole lot of sence.

Interesting responses, basically about what I expected. I'm personally not a vegetarian and don't plan on becoming one, though my father is one fore this reason and I sympathize with those who are. for those interested I'm not a PETA supporter and will never be one. Also for those talking about omnivore/herbivore yes humans evolved as omnivores and meat plays a role in our diet. However like a lot of omnivores it's possible to live a healthy vegetarian diet, people have being doing so for religious reasons for countless centuries. I am not against the slaughtering of animals just against cruelty to animals, as a few observant posters seem to have figured out. I do believe there is a difference, for example slitting a pigs throat while it's alive only to see it writhe around in pain instead of just using a "bolt gun" to kill it like normal is in my mind not necessary.
