How do you edit mp3's?

I have a few songs that start off w/ another song on the CD or end with another song beginning. Is there anyway, to cut that out of the mp3?

I downloaded CoolEdit 2000 and it's not all that. You have to pay to get the full version. I ruined one of my mp3's because you can only edit and save up to 60 seconds into the mp3 with the trial version....I'll be uninstalling it now. I'm looking for something that you don't have to pay for.
