How Do You Eat Your Corn on the Cob?

L

Lola

We just had corn last night and I eat it around (once around all in one bite) and my s/o eats it across.

he thinks i am weird for doing this... so, what is the most common way?!

how do you eat your corn? and why?

My option isn't there!

I stand my cob on one end, take a knife and cut the kernels off, and then eat with a fork. I don't like eating off the cob because the corn juice always squirts on my face when I take a bite.

you have to go around
this is due to the way the butter melts and runs around the cob

butter doesn't run across the cob

so you butter up a spot really good, as the butter is melting, you go around , then you move over and butter up again , etc, etc

if you don't eat butter on your COTC , then across is ok, but if you like the butter, you can't really do across

I also use little corn holders that you jab into each end. Makes the job much easier. :)

Across of course. Like a typewriter. (everyone remembers those right? ;) )

I like to watch everyone else crunch on theirs and have our sound FX guru play typewriter sounds through the speaker over the Captain's table. The bell ringing tells everyone to do a carriage return! bwahahahahaha!

It has to be seen for humor value. :)

"You know they call corn on the cob 'corn on the cob,' but that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that 'corn,' they should call every other version 'corn off the cob.' It's not like if you cut off my arm you would call it 'Mitch.' Then reattach it and call me 'Mitch-all-together...'"

Why is that? The butter is in a pot melted and they just dip a paint brush in it and slap it on like a coat of varnish. Yummy!

I think I do a combination of both. I haven't had corn on the cob in a while...and my initial thought on how i'd eat it was around. So I guess i'm more of an "around" eater.

sure you can. just roll the cob in the melted butter on the plate to reapply the buttery goodness.

i eat across, then roll, then across, then roll. just like the "typewriter" technique in the cartoons.

Heh my bothers and I used to get into fights over those and the little plastic butter brush things. For some reason my parents didn't have enough of them for all of us. The typewriter thing was my first thought as well, that is how I eat it.

Well if you learn how to butter correctly, then across works just fine.

Across is the only way to eat COTC.

we don't have this "pot"

we take the butter straight from the butter tub

Oh yeah, and across and around, but never ever cut, otherwise it is just corn. The reason it is corn on the cob is because you are eating it directly off of the cob. A pig pickin' isn't just called pork, its called a pig pickin' cause you're picking it right offa the hog, same principle applies here.

Oh you have to tell your chef to get that pot in his galley. You'll love it! ;)

Spiral from the tip to the stem. I like my corn plain and sweet. Butter is just fvcking weird. No wonder you people get heart attack before 40.
