How do you disconnect from the internet in Win XP?

I just upgraded to XP and when I got online I noticed that the normal ways I use to disconnect are not available. So how do you go about it using XP?

if you've not got the 2 tv icon in your systray when online then go start/settings/network connection/your connection/properties & you'll see the check box for show icon when connected at the bottom on the general page! 🙂

Did that, but still no TV's. I got a couple for my network connection saying that a cable is unplugged, but I am not using my NIC right now, so that would explain that. But why can't I get the ones for the internet. It really stinks having to shut down the computer just to log off the net

are you using IE as your browser?
if yes, then internet properties/connections, highlight your dialup connection/settings/dialup settings/advanced & check disconnect when connection no longer needed!

What exactly does that do, disconnect if I don't have any program pen that requires the connection? That sounds cool, but I would prefer to be able to disconnect when i want to.

when checked, when you close IE a dialogue box will appear asking if you want to disconnect or not!

Create a shortcut on your desktop, with:
"rasdial.exe /disconnect" (without quotes)

Then, to disconnect, just doubleclick it.
