how do you disable services in Win2000?

i know you use the program 'msconfig' for xp... just wonderin what the equivelant is for win2000 (if there is one)

Start... Run... services.msc

but that is not the same thing as MSCONFIG.

It is possible to copy msconfig.exe from Windows 98 PC over to a 2K PC and run it. It will give you two errors that you click OK on and then you are good to go. You can also copy msconfig.exe from an XP PC.

I used that guide to configure my services also but from what JudistPriest posted and his reference to msconfig I think he's actually talking about disabling programs from running on startup rather than true "Services".

If you want to disable a service in Win2K, why not just open the management console, go to the Services section, and disable the specific services you want?

haha, ya... i actually found that website before i formatted and ive been looking for it and couldnt find it... thanks :p

btw, thanks everyone for all the tips, i think i got it figured out
