How do you define the opening size of an Internet Explorer window?

Sometimes they open minimized, sometimes maximized, sometimes in between.

Is there a hard setting you can maintain it with?

Seriously though, if you want to use IE, then I have not found any way to get it to always open maximised. The best I have found is to stretch it to fit the screen, and close it. Open it again, and it should be nearly full screen (to the size you stretched it), then maximise it. Now close it again.

I have found that if that method doesn't open it maximised all the time, then it at least makes it nearly maximised 🙂

I use autosizer (1.4).
It also maximizes new windows opened by right clicking.

The problem with IE6 is when you right click a link and choose "Open in new window" it doesn't maximize it. It always opens it to the size you last had your IE window. Annoying, but this is something that hasn't been fixed for ages.

Sorry, this doesnt work...if you JUST use the IE icon to open internet explorer, it's OK. I have several shortcuts on my desktop to specific websites and they ALWAYS open in the "unmaximized" mode, even after trying the above. If i use one of these shortcuts, then open IE with the IE icon, it will not open maximized. This is a continuing problem with IE since Win98

Autosizer works, but its another usage of precious memory for a problem that isnt a biggie in my book.

It hasn't been fixed because it isn't a bug. IE windows open to the same size as the last window you opened.
And why is this in general hardware? 😉

Put those shortcuts on your Links Bar and use the previously mentioned Run option for internet explorer then click whichever link u want
or
File those Internet Shortcuts (that are currently on your desktop) away in "My Docs" or something and make actual windows shortcuts to them (on your desktop) and set the previously mentioned run option

I saved some registry keys to a file, these:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main - Window Placement info

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Document Windows
width, height, x, y, and it looks like there's a Maximized option there. Trying that....
Edit: The Maximized option under Document Windows doesn't seem to do anything.

But anyway, with those settings in a registry file, I just close IE (can't apply new settings while it's running), and double click a shortcut to that exported registry file. This merges those settings into the registry, and IE opens how I want it.

To define a window size, adjust the IE window to how you want it (it can not open maximized; I've read that IE can't do this), hold down Shift, and close the window. IE will open new windows in that same size now.
