How do you deal with rejection?

Nocturnal

I'm a retail sales person and I have a hard hard time pushing items on customers. I know that I need to be more harsh on myself and try to push more items. The reason I ask is I feel that if I am rejected I get all perspirary and anxious. It's like when rejection occurs I'm sitting in the middle of five thousand people in a stadium, with a light shining and glaring down on top of me, with everyone just STARING. And to top it off it feels like there is a huge big screen not only displaying a video of me, but also with the words, "JUST STARE AT HIM! AHAHAH REJECTED!!! LEWSER!!!"

How do you get over or deal with rejection?

Maybe you're not cut out for retail.

It's not like it's a test of your worthiness. You're just suggesting that a customer get accessories A, B, and C in addition to his purchase of item X.

What exactly are you selling anyway?

Cellular phones and accessories such as flashing batteries, flashing keypads, faceplates, car chargers, leather cases, etc.

I wouldn't even consider that rejection. You're WAY too sensitive about this. Whether or not people want a car charger for thier phone is not a judgement on you. Do you think your grocer goes in the back of the store and cries if you come in and buy a gallon of milk but decided not to buy any tomatoes with it?

I find that stabbing the offender in the face with an infected monkey claw brings a certain level of satisfaction...

just gotta learn that they just don't want the product. the only thing i hated about retail was best buy pushing me to push the service plans.. no sell, get crap job to do.

I guess I have psychological problems. I get all hot and perspirated when I get rejected... exactly how I explained earlier about being stared at. Or like when you do something wrong and people are like WTF are you doing? in front of tons and tons of people.

Find a girl that is unbelievably attractive, go straight up and ask her out.

That my friend, is rejection.

And if she doesn't turn you down, even better.

It'll make getting turned down for a cell phone battery much easier! 🙂

I have never really been affected by rejection.

I'm not afraid to ask for what I want, but I am also not heart-broken if I don't get it.

Sounds like you are not exactly *happy* selling phones...

Find something that you enjoy, to do for a living. Trust me, life can be pretty miserable when you have a job that you don't enjoy.

Mmmmm... Milk and tomatoes...

Well, usually there is no rejection to get over 🙂

But in your cause, IMO, you're way too sensitive about it. It's not like your life depends on you selling phones (or does it?)
If you get rejected by a customer, think "that facking ass probably didn't have money" and try again.

i just add them to my list of people that will die horrible deaths at my hands because they rejected me, when i win the lottery or gain super human powers......

BWAHHHHHAHHA

wait til i win the lottery and buy my pool with the sharks...with freaking laser beams on their heads....BWAHAHAHAH!!!
