As gross as they look, they're predators like spiders and as such kill all the other creepy crawlies in your place. Bad news is if you have a lot then there are a lot of other bugs.

could you imagine one of those things crawling into your ear while you're asleep?

I had one of these crawling around my pillow one morning as I awoke. With a conscious mind, I picked up the whole pillow and brought it to the toilet. If that thing got away, I would've had to nuke the house.

This is why you don't use a q-tip to clean your ears. Just take a shower and wash your ears out. The wax in the canal blocks things from entering.

Wax has to build up a lot to actually close the canal. Have you ever looked inside someone's ear canal? As dirty as my kids' got, it was never completely blocked. But yes, wax is otherwise good, just not a build-up of it.

You could always eat them

Why not right? People actually eat shrimp, crab, snails, and lobster. *yuck*

Unplug your internet, then sprinkle diatomaceous earth around all your baseboards and everywhere else they crawl from. Don't plug your internet back in when they're gone though, that's how they get inside in the first place.

We have a few of those around our house. Other than looking creepy they don't really bother me too much. Would rather have them around than the spiders. Crazy that they live upto 7 years though.

You got to be careful with diatomaceous earth. It won't hurt your skin but if you breath a bunch in your lungs will suffer. I'd wear a mask when opening and scooping out that stuff.

You are approaching this all wrong. Give the kids airsoft pistols and tell them to hunt them. You are rid of the pests that way, all of them. :p
