Try VDub. You may also want to check at
Videohelp in the tools section if you have issues. The reason I mention this is that AVI is really a wrapper that can hold various types of encoded files. While Movie Maker will work with MS MPEG4, MS AVI Type 1 and 2, and DV-AVI, I do not think it will work with DivX V5 or 6 (and the file may or may not be encoded that way.) Try WMM first though as it is probably already on your set. But do Save As... Other or you will get an WMF file as a result. VDub may preserve the format without any additional work.
Now, if you have my editor, you would just drop it in the timeline... Got a spare $500 sitting around gathering dust?
