How Do You Create VCDs?

I have some Divx files and I want to be able to watch it on my DVD player which supports VCD CDs.

Is there a way to burn files onto a CD in this form? I noticed my movies are in .AVI form and the ones on a VCD is .DAT.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
I use NERO which might not the best program, but it works just fine for basic DivX ==>> VCD functions.
