boil arbitrary amount of water
add noodles, boil for 5-6 minutes stirring occasionally
add flavor packet, stir, turn off heat, and let sit for 10-15 minutes
cut up piece of boneless, skinless chicken breast into bite sized pieces, seasoned with red pepper, garlic powder and cajun seasonings
sautee chicken till cooked
drain water out of ramen noodles, stir, and add chicken

real ramen makes me never want to eat cup o noodles ever again.

pretty sure i can find stuff like that here, but it's probably a place owned by koreans or chinese and made by illegal aliens. not many japanese in houston.

I used to love ramen. Now it generally makes me gag.

But if I do - it's "boil water, add noodles to boiling water, watch water and noodles boil for a few minutes, remove so the water stops boiling, drain non-boiling water from noodles, eat noodles without any of the previously mentioned boiled water."

I usually like my ramen noodles on a saltine or triscut.

I don't. I say, " Shoyu ramen tabetai," and my SO cooks it.

And if your SO doesn't... you say "Haduken!"

And to spice it up, I throw in a little "Shoryuken!" from time to time.

When your SO gets out of line, it's "Tatsu Maki Sen Pu Kaiaku!" (And in all honesty... does it REALLY sound like that in the game? I think not.)

Spark up the barbecue pit, light the coals and wait for 20 minutes. Throw on a giant ribeye that's well seasoned. Grab the packet of Ramen noodles and then throw them away. Enjoy!

I only it Ramen noodles if I have to. I have some right now, in my store of food for survival. When I have to eat them, I will cook according to package directions, douse them with hot sauce and not enjoy.

Place cold water and noodles in bowl. Microwave 3 minutes. Add seasoning powder. Eat.

Probably the worst way to cook them, but ramen tastes pretty good regardless of how you cook it.

+ leftovers/egg
the more expensive packages/nissin/saporro make better ramen..better flavor packets/noodle texture etc than the super cheap marachan or whever that stuff is. asian markets have more selection. cheaper even, think walmart only sells beef flavor saporro:p and for 10 cents more.

ramen may be a bit on the endangered side here in houston. but i can get awesome pho.

we've got a billion sushi places (nearly all korean or chinese owned) but not a single place devoted to japanese street food.

That looks really good.

I appreciate people who know real Japanese ramen. Ramen isn't fvcking $2 cup and noodles or even the Asian crap you can buy at the supermarket. Ramen also isn't going to the Korean place and watching them toss in Shin Ramen from the supermarket. It's the texture you get from cooking pork bones overnight for 18 hours or so and then getting that thick broth. That's why a good bowl of Japanese Ramen can cost you $10 or more. It's simply quality. No noodle, not even Pho can touch the sophisticatedness of Japanese Ramen.

I appreciate people who aren't food snobs and realize that there are many different kinds of "real Japanese ramen," and they don't have to come from a ramen-ya to be quality. Even instant noodles have their place (mainly when drunk).

1. Boil water
2. Dump in noodles + seasoning packet
3. Cook for 5 minutes
4. Strain noodles and put into bowl
5. Add hoisin sauce and chinese pickled radish
