Thank you. I will try it and report back as to how well it worked.

If you would use the software I recommended, you'd be listening to the mp3s already.
have you even tried putting DRM protected WMA's into audacity even? I know i've tried and every time it craps out on me...

Didn't work for me either.

You use Audacity to record the DRM WMA that's playing on a different media player. See that button with the red circle on it? That's the record button.

Thanks tfinch2. I ended up burning it to CD via Windows Media Player and then using Roxio Easy CD Creator to convert the .cda to .mp3. It worked for me this time. The first time I tried it I didn't burn the .wma to CD with Windows Media Player--my fault.

This time it worked and it sounds okay/good enough.

Thanks again for the help and advice about Audacity.

emusic.com is great. You're just not going to find the craptastic song of the week there, but if your looking for real music, it's the place to go. I have a 40 download a month subscription and it's gone the first day or two that my downloads reset.

Is emusic.com mostly local bands and independent labels? Any older top 40? e.g., Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Billy Joel????

You have to be careful with the big name musicians. Some of the tracks they have are live cuts and remixes from some of the big names. Emusic's best for jazz, blues, world music, and indie rock than the big name stuff. I'll list some of what I've downloaded below.

String Cheese Incident- jam band
Stevie Ray Vaughn with Albert King-blues
god speed you! black emperor-ambient jam rock
A doo-wop greatest hits album-doo wop
Chico O'Farrill-afro-Cuban jazz
Aqua Velvets-surf rock
Brian Setzer Orchestra-swing rock jazz?
Dizzie Gillespie-jazz
Sigur Ros- ambient rock

They give 25 free songs to download if you join with no obligation I believe. You do have to give a credit card number and pick a plan to get the free songs, but you can cancel it at any time, and emusic's not a scam site. I don't think you'll have any problem dealing with them.

I got 100 free downloads from them with a mp3 player I bought. I didn't intend on keeping the service after the 100 songs, but I liked it so much I stuck with them. In a interview with one of the emusic brass, the man stated that the average time spent with them was 1 year, so I guess people like it well enough for that.

One other thing. If you get a plan( in my case $10 for 40 downloads a month) you have to make all the downloads before the next month or you lose them. It's not a huge deal, but if let that happen too much you'll end up losing money.
