I want to get a Standalone DVD player for the TV. Can I play DV-R DVDs on Stand Alones and how do you guys convert mpegs, AVIs, QuickTime, and other movie file formats to burn to DVDs so as to play on a Standalone. And can a 320 by 240 size movie be blown up to full screen so it can then be played on a Stand Alone.

VSO DivX To DVD is fab. I just tested this yesterday with an MPEG-4 / AC3 movie, my trusty HLDS burner and Panasonic RP-62 player and found it would not initially read the discs (+R & +RW), however I had done a l'il research in advance and was prepared with a firmware update on CD (which I snagged via eMule), after which it was all systems go! 😀

So, after narrowing down your player choices, check recordable DVD compatability at videohelp.com. A 320x240 movie can be blown up but of course the low resolution and encoding quality (or lack thereof) cannot be overcome.
