How do you connect your ipod?

I've usually just used itunes for transferring my mp3's to my ipod. I use winamp for all other music ralted tasks. Itunes sucks, it is bloated and cannot handle large music collections (mine is only 45gb, not much compared to other ATOT'ers).

So the question is, what is the best way to connect/transfer music to an ipod?

uhh, itunes works just fine for me. itunes to transfer to ipod (and hopefully later to listen to songs on my stereo w/ airtunes) and winamp for listening to music on my computer. no biggie.

iTunes works fine for me. I know they've made an add-on/plugin for Winamp that allows you to transfer songs from there to your iPod, but I haven't used it. I use iTunes because they work relatively seamlessly together, they were designed to go hand in hand. I don't use it for anything but transferring, however, because Winamp is far superior for playback.

Foobar2000 to listen to music, iTunes to transfer

foobar2000 now has a plugin to transfer your mp3 / aac files to the ipod. i read it's pretty damn easy and more controlable than itunes.

cool thanks for all the quick replys. I don't know why but itunes just bogs my system down. Most of my friends don't have this problem so its probably specific to me. Itunes and ipods are seemless so i wish it worked better for me, but I must have some conflicting hardware. Oh well the alternatives look good. Thanks.

I used to use ephpod but now I use iTunes b/c it kept giving me errors while transferring, eg., when I was transferring a whole album, it would just transfer odd tracks. And when I went back to transfer the rest I had to restart the program for every single even track.

doesn't winamp get really slow and messed up when you have a whole crap load of music open on it?

Winamp is just about the only player I've found that DOESN'T whig out when you load a ton of music into it.

How much faster is firewire than usb2? I'm considering buying a hdd player, and though I'm really against the idea of an iPod & almost certainly would get the iRiver, this is the one area where the iRiver might not be the better player.

And yeah, Winamp is fine with tons of mp3s, in my experience.
