You don't get a rash on your hoots from the dirty bills?

I remember when I was 16 or so, i put two $20 bills in a deck of cards in my suitcase on a trip. Later when i was cleaning my room, I almost threw out an old deck of cards, but i'd figure i'd look in the box to see if the cards were worth keeping.

Hello the $40 i had put there from before!

There is a spot where padding can go in between the bra and the lining. no dirty bills touch anything.

I used that tactic in Mexico...

I've worn a money belt. Essentially a regular belt with a zippered pouch the entire length, on the reverse side where you can stash money. I've also worn the bulkier underclothes kind if I felt I needed to have my passport (train stations/Eurail), and had no decent pocket to hide it in. Use your front pockets, hidden pockets, inside pockets of coats or vests, pockets that can zipper/button shut, etc....but in any case don't use your back pocket!

My folks and I were at a subway station in Paris when some girl simply bumped in to my Dad when standing next to him. By the time he had the presence of mind to check his back pocket (maybe 1 second), she already undone the two buttons and was about to pull out his wallet. He yelled at her, she dropped his wallet and ran away. Pickpockets are slick.

Buy a cheap wallet and put like $5 inside, keep everything else in your front pocket. If you are robbed give up your wallet.

Most of us here are Engineers / Programmers / Technology enthusiasts ...etc as far as I have seen, all is still within the norms over here.

i'll keep that in mind if i ever rob a woman... two bird with one stone! or is that three birds???

anyway... when i went to china, i just kept some of my cash in my front pocket.. i carried a backpack around that held my passport and wallet (with the rest of my cash). i locked this backpack with a simple small combo lock..

if i left anything of value in the hotel room, it was in my suitcase which also had a lock on it.

i leave it in the ATM and use CC or debit cards

Lots and lots of places that don't take cards.

then don't go there

they work fine in europe

Yeah, because every street vendor in the markets obviously accept credit cards. Or all the shops in the Eastern European countries. Much less going to cities like Shanghai, China with their huge fabric/clothes/tailoring market....most of which won't take credit cards. Hell, I still run in to shops here in the States that don't accept cards.

...get a clue.

I haven't been to a high-crime foreign country, but when I went to Europe I used one of those wallet things you hang around your neck. Keep it inside your shirt.

Or you could double-wrap it in condoms and... well, you may have to wait a couple of hours to make a withdrawal.

but 1st yuo have to make a deposit

The money belt doesn't look too bad except that it is only available in 46" waist, which is about 16" more than I need. I wonder if it can be trimmed much without getting into the 'secret' compartment.
