white sneakers? Leather shoes? I throws all sneakers in the washer, then the dryer and let them sit for a day or two. As for leather shoes, i just use some Kiwi shoe polish. That new little "mouse" thing from Kiwi also works great for a nice finish on leather shoes.

if your sneakers are really funky - you've got nothing to lose.
detergent, hot water, washing machine.

you can dry them out in the air, or some dryers have a ledge that you can install in them (for drying sweaters etc, so the shoes won't tumble all over and make a horrible noise).

the inner liner (bottom pad) may come loose - no big deal

How do you get the white parts clean from say a pair of running shoes?
I tried Lest Oil and it barely did anything.... usually that's some hardcore stuff for cleaning stains from clothes, and it used to work fine on different shoes (I'm trying to clean a pair of Nike's).

Sneakers? I never wash them.. But I remember back in the days, my mom would make me wash my shoes...

by scrubbing them with brush & soap.. rinse then dry. white as new.

I use some spray on shoe cleaner that I purchased from Moneysworth & Best in the Eaton Centre.

I'm sure it was overpriced and a rip off, but it works pretty good.

too far ;)

I'd worry about bleach: the shoe's are made of canvas and what looks like suede or something like that....

What kind of soap/detergent should I use to get my whites their whitest? err... my SHOE'S whites :Q :Q :Q

Sneakers: Take out laces, soles. Throw everything into washer, with detergent (after rinsing to get excess dirt off). Wash. Take out, leave out in dry place for a little while. If you want them to dry faster, stuff crumpled up newspaper in the shoes.

I just threw the shoes in the washer together with the in-soles and left the laces the way it was. came out with no problems at all.

Take the insert out of the shoes
Throw the shoes and the inserts into a pillow case
Wash with a load of clothes like your normally would
Throw clothes in the dryer but put the shoes & insert on top to air dry for about 24 hours
