How do you clean your baseball caps?

I have 2 college baseball caps and a Yankees cap. I learned the hard way that putting them in the washing machine ruins them. So, how do people clean them? I have one from undergrad that has not been washed in 12 years and I'm afraid to wear or wash it, but cannot see myself trashing it.

You want to keep it away from the washer machine or dryer or extremely hot water. I just let mine soak overnight in the sink using detergent or degreaser. Then rinse it a let it air dry outside. The cap doesn't shrink and perfectly keeps its shape.

I've washed mine in the washing machine with cold water and its been OK. Just make sure the hat has a plastic brim, not cardboard.

Pretty much this.

While we're on the topic of things no one should be asking after the age of 13, what's the best way to get Kool-Aid stains out of jean shorts?

This. I spray the inside band with shout too. Gets the forehead spooge off.

Spray with shout or spray n wash, whatever we have, throw in washer (front loader, delicate cycle, lowest spin speed). Comes out very clean. Dryer on rack. Dries nice and quick. Looks like new when done, unless it's one of my under-the-car caps.

I've always washed mine in the washer on warm and then air dry it. My favorite has been washed four times and it still looks fine.

Those that claim to wash their baseball hats, even the New Era ones? I find that hard to believe.

Spray with Shout...wash with jeans. Air dry over a plastic coffee "can."

As has already been mentioned, the caps with the cardboard bill don't usually do too well being washed.

WTF is up with the cap manufacturers going to velcro-type back closures? I HATE those...they always snag my long hair and pull it out of the pony tail. Go back to the snap-back closures. :colbert:
