How do you clean LCD?

I think he means removing dust and smudges. I have some Office Depot screen cleaner that says it's safe for LCDs, just go to the store and buy some screen cleaner that says it's LCD safe.

I just got my LCD. I'm not sure of what I'm really doing, but here's what I've been doing:

To clean little specs of dust I just sort of woosh some tissue over it. Not really pressing down, just running the tissue over the monitor flicking away any bits of dust. (Wooshing = sliding hand left and right with tissue in hand, but with hand a few inches away from the screen, so the tissue barely makes contact with the monitor and doesn't really apply any pressure to the monitor).

I just grab an Armorall glass wipe. I think it is pretty easy to get bogged down in a lot of esoteric BS in this monitor cleaning thing.

I use a clean 100% cotton t-shirt dampened with warm water. It works as well as, or better than all those aftermarket products and is safer than rubbing the fragile LCD screen with some potentially abrasive cloth and a chemical cleaner. The LCD screens are pretty delicate.

Cleaning an LCD monitor, what is the proper method?

Proper? beats me.

I use a dry swiffer cloth for getting the dust and whatnot off.
Swiffer is the pork of the future.

Ive addressed this a few times. I will post an excerpt from our upcoming LCD article:

Surprisingly, one of the most frequent questions we noticed in our forums was simply ?How do I care for my monitor?? LCDs are still expensive pieces of equipment, so they require a little bit of TLC.

The most important matter is keeping the LCD screen clean. For those of you fortunate enough to have LCDs with glass bezels (like the AG Neovo S-18), use only warm water and a lint free cloth. Any other alcohol or ammonia based cleaner will strip the anti glare coating off and ruin your bezel surface.

For ordinary LCD panels that do not have an additional glass bezel, distilled water is still one of the best cleaners. However, great care needs to be taken to ensure that the right amount of pressure is not applied to the screen when cleaning. Too much pressure can crack the substrate.

This editor recommends using a little bit of vinegar mixed with water on a lint free cloth to clean the monitor surface. Using a paper towel will leave small abbrassions in the anti glare coating and bezel. Always apply the cleaning solution to the cloth first. Finally, wipe the cloth from corner to corner, and then side to side starting from the top to bottom. This will leave the most even surface.

i use a starbrite(?) cloth thingy thats supposed to make dust stick to it instead of fly around all over the place. you can get em at costco maybe? it works pretty well cuz its soft and picks up dust REALLY well and cleans off smudges with light rubbing. however, it sometimes pushes dust to the corners of the lcd. i guess the only way to get that stuff is with a vacume cleaner that sucks....dust. 😉
