how do you check how much $ is on an amazon GC code?

is there any way to see how much money is on a code besides redeeming it? i traded for a code from some guy off of fatwallet to get some logitech z-640's but i decided i'd hold off on purchasing them for awhile. i'd like to sell it so i just want to double check the amount before i sell it to someone else. is there any way i can do this?

Put items in your cart, go for checkout and enter the code. You don't have to confirm payment before you find out the "credit" amount... it'll show in the screen before you confirm payment how much is credited as the GC.

won't it save your promotional gift certificates or whatevers to your account? i think it happened to me before. i tried using my GC on my other amazon acct (i have 2) but it was already "applied"/saved into my other account so i couldn't use it.

Hmm, that's a good point, I don't know about it making it useless for other accounts if you first try to use it with yours.

I'd guess the best way then is to contact customer service. Amazon is pretty good at responding.
