how do you change the text cursor in internet explorer(not mouse pointer)

tried that...I'm talkin about the actual blinking cursor that shows where you are in a text box/address bar/ outlook email, not the mouse pointer. The old man is computer illiterate and it confuses him because it looks like the next couple letters are selected.

Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel

And direct yourself to the Mouse setting and double click

Click on the Pointers Tab. If you scroll down there should be a pointer that says "Text Select"

Highlight it and right above you'll see something that says "Scheme". Change that to "Windows Default (system scheme)" and you should be set.
