How do you cash $600 in coins?

About 4-5 years worth of coins 🙂

I was planning on using those coin machines from safeway and the likes, but they charge like 8.9% or ~$54 from total. Does Washington Mutual count these coins, or do I have to roll them up?

If you're not in an area with a Commerce Bank (free coin counting machine in lobby) then Coinstar to a giftcard (thus negating the fee) is your best/easiest bet.

Check with whatever bank you actually bank with and ask if they have a coin counting machine because you want to deposit your change without rolling it. Some do it for free, some do it for a fee, some don't do it at all. Just call around until you find one that will let you do it.

Commerce Bank and Chevy Chase Bank will both do it free w/o rolling them. They both have a big machine up front that you dump it all into, it counts it, and gives you a slip to bring to the teller.

My bank has a change cash/deposit machine. You just walk up to it and drop the change in it. It will give you a receipt. You can then take the receipt to the teller and either deposit the money into your account or cash it. If you dont have an account there is a 10% fee.

Huh... you city folk are odd. I've never known of any banks or credit unions around here who don't just take your change and run it through their machine, or at least have the self-service one. And there certainly isn't any fee for members.

8-9% fee?? What a rip... does anyone even use that thing?

interesting. I've never known a bank to just take my jar of loose change and sort it for me. Altho, chevy chase offers it for free here, but EVERY time I go (and I've hit up 4-5 different ones), it never fails that the machine breaks down. Then you get to that awkward part of them trying to sell me on opening an account.

Just ask your bank. Mine has one of those huge machines that counts it for you. I took 175.00 in change there the other day. It's free also.
